Ok, I'm a newbie who needs her held a little bit to reassure me that my lurking troll is truly being blocked from my site.
They are still popping up on my site meter after I embedded the code into my blog lay-out. Does this mean they attempted to view? Is each attempt going to be blocked yet still register with my sitemeter? This troll no longer comments on my blog (due to my heavy hand of discipline!), but I do not want them to even view my content and thus keep harassing my friends.
So, long question short: will my site meter continue to report them as a visitor even if they are truly blocked from viewing? Or should their blocked attempt not even register on my site meter?
Thanks for your kind attention, Martin!!!

Hey Martin Yes, I actually did read that, but it still remained unclear to me. Yes, I did embed the code above and before my site meter. ( I use blogger) The troll's IP still pops up on my site meter, but I have noticed that the duration of their visit is now recorded as 0 seconds. Please indulge my persistence to ask this, but am I understanding that the blocked IP will appear on site traffic reports, but this does not indicate they are accessing my site, only attempting access? If you tell me that I ought not to even see their IP on a traffic report, then I'll email you and we can resolve my techno-clumsiness privately. Thanks Martin for your patience with me!!!

ok, mystery solved. the IP address of my troll is lacking the last three digits. Grrr........ on my site meter most of their IP is detailed, but maybe they have blocking software, I don't know. You did point this out on the IP blocking page. I thought I had the troll's entire IP, but after further review, finally realized it is an incomplete IP. And from what I can tell, there is nothing I can do about it.
Well, I still have you linked at my blog. I think this is a great service you are providing people. It is a harsh reality in the wild, wild web of cyberspace that some folks are just not nice. This is a wonderful tool to help protect our digital communities.
All the best...!

Thanks for those kind words Pam.
We hope indeed people like our unique service.
Maybe it`s an idea for you to install another/xtra stat-counter to retrieve full ip-addresses of people you want to block?!
Best Regards,
Martin

hey martin! i took your advice and enlisted another site counter. my original counter, Site Meter, did not provide the last digits of the needed IP. So I hooked up with Stat Counter and yes! They did...my troll no longer comments on my blog (thank you jesus!) but they lurk and through lurking sometimes harass some of my linked friends. I am confident that this will finally resolve my issue of wanting to block this ip from even viewing my blog. And hey, I love how you give us the option of providing a Redirecting URL to the blocked IP. I laughed as I thought about the crummy, nasty sites I could have redirected them too, but in the end, my sense of humor (and kindness) won out. I am simply redirecting them to a Crazy Frog You Tube video. Should provide a wonderful moment of surprise and bewilderment that I can only imagine.
In a perfect world, and a more perfect cyberspace, sites like this would not be needed. Again, thank you Martin for providing a line of defense in the wild, wild west of the internet where not everybody plays nice.
Blessings on you!
